The fresh green grass extending for miles gave the impression of it being covered in green velvet. I love the view looking up the Bushmans River valley where you will often find Eland grazing. The cave that houses some San art sits a little way up the valley and towering above is the escarpment of the Drakensberg. On the day of our visit we had some cloud cover which gave lovely diffused light for bird photography but blocked our view of the escarpment. The low contrast light was perfect for accentuating the velvety textures and my first shot was with my iPhone then a single wide-angle shot on the D800 before going the whole complicated route of a 4 image group with a DSLR with the plan to stitch a panorama. I would usually have included a shot with my favourite little Fuji X100 but the 35mm equivalent lens was just not wide enough to do justice to this scene so, while I took one, \u00a0it was not worth including here.<\/p>\n<p>The iPhone version is great for immediacy and a kind of visual notebook, quite apart from being great fun to edit in an airport or on a plane.
