Visits are usually late afternoon for the possibility of a brief moment of magical light with birds. The sheer number of spiders is incredible with eyes shining back from the grasses like Christmas lights. The Brown Tree frog (<em>Litoria ewingii)<\/em>,  Southern Bell frog (<em>Litoria raniformis)<\/em> and Green and Golden Bell frog (<em>Litoria aurea)<\/em>. The two Bell frogs can both occur at Okareka and can be challenging to differentiate especially when young. This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doc.govt.nz\/nature\/native-animals\/reptiles-and-frogs\/frogs-pepeketua\/identifying-introduced-frog-species\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Department of Conservation Identification key<\/a> can be helpful with adult frogs if you can get a clear view of their back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a
