In Celebration of Te Wiki O Te Reo M\u0101ori\/M\u0101ori Language Week 2021, I thought that I would share some our pelagic manu\/birds along with what may have been their first given human names. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A number of birds have a variety of M\u0101ori names and the T\u012bt\u012b is no different also been known as H\u0101koakoa and Hakoko. Their additional English name of Muttonbird is less inspiring unless you\u2019re a starving sailor!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
