Light levels were quite low and I was wanting to isolate the birds form the rocky background so a wide aperture was needed for both these reasons. With the two birds being at different distances I was faced with choosing to keep one or the other sharp or else using focus stacking of 2 images to capture both of them sharp.<\/p>\n<p>I took a number of images focussing on the birds individually while keeping the same composition. I chose the 2 with the best poses and opened them as 2 layers in Photoshop and then masked the 2 together to maximise sharpness \u00a0of the birds. Ideally a 3rd image would have been good to maintain sharpness between the birds but the two image stack works adequately.<\/p>\n<p>Nikon D800, Nikon 500VR.
