Edin’s blog post today altered our plans to include a trip to Wingspan National Bird of Prey Centre before heading up to Lake Okareka. As part of our annual membership we can attend any time but do not go as often as we should. It is always great to see the birds fly and it is great practice for photographing birds in flight. The flight display today was well attended and is a great educational opportunity and lovely to see the excitement of people getting up close to these unique raptors. The backgrounds are challenging with distant trees and some fences that make it hard to get the birds against a clean background but today we had a nice overcast sky which gave an opportunity to get some shots against grey that would work for my Birds on White series. Wingspan does an amazing job and deserves your support, so next time you’re in Rotorua, drop in for a visit and enjoy the daily 2pm flying display.
