Back to the Beagle Channel

Completing our northbound passage of the Drake Channel we were back to the Beagle Channel, where our adventure had began with the first incredible day of vistas and wildlife. We headed slowly along the channel toward Ushuaia and were again overwhelmed with the abundance of wildlife. Black-browed Albatross were continually passing along with huge flocks of Imperial Shags heading home after a day of foraging. The lipsticked Dolphin Gulls were back and Dusky Dolphins were playing in the bow wave and leaping in the distance where we again saw small pods of Magellanic Penguins. In the background the forested slopes of the southern Andes rose to the snowy peaks – our first view of trees since leaving.

The even grey skies gave a perfect opportunity to take some images for my Birds on White collection too.
