New Web host for Wildlight Photography

After days of getting frustrated trying to sort out my permissions issue, WildLight is now hosted by NZ hosting company 24-7 Hosting

The issue was not so much identifying the problem but in making contact with my previous host’s support. 3 emails from various links on their website and cPanel went unacknowledged and unanswered. Phoning resulted in another email address that ended in the same result. This led me to search for another host – my main criterion being having cPanel as I am used to this and it works well for site admin. A cheaper rate and more storage would be be bonuses as my failed Quick-install was due to inadequate disk space for the zip-archive of my site as well as the expanded file needed to install. 24-7 seemed to fit the bill with over 10 times the disk space, unlimited bandwidth, half the price to maintain my domain registration and a cost of less than a third of what I was paying for an annual plan. They offered a free website migration service and the whole process was complete within 30 mins of placing my order. I placed a small edit on the old site so that I would be able to see when the routing to the new server was complete. Less than 24 hours later google is pointing to the new server and I am now posting/editing without having to first dive into folders on cPanel to change permissions and then reverse the process again after finishing. A couple of contacts with the 24-7 support desk during the process were answered within 10mins and are reminiscent of the service I used to enjoy with the Kiwi Web Hosting Company prior to their takeover by Orcon. Happy days!!

  2. Thanks Edin. It’s been a bit of a mission but I’m pleased with the result so far.
