Astrophotography

After some great spells of clear weather with moon co-operating for lunar photography, I was looking forward to a clear night without a moon for some Milky Way photos. It all came together on the 12th of May with a lovely clear sky. I headed up over the hill to Lake Okareka where a good dark sky can be found. The photo of the moon shows a 6 day old waxing crescent and the other image is the Milky Way rising above Lake Okareka with some mist over the water. The foreground grasses were illuminated with a brief brush of torch light.
