Another Okareka afternoon

The Spring switch was definitely flicked this week with warm days and intense light welcoming the changing season. After work on Wednesday a quick trip up the road to Lake Okareka was organised with Edin being the driving force, keen to make the most of her opportunities while back home for a couple of weeks study leave. The New Zealand Pigeons were in the trees on the way as expected so we stopped for a while and managed a few decent images and then headed on to the lake just as the light was fading. No sunlight but lovely smooth water gave very diffuse light and greys to work with. The low light levels necessitated high ISO but the D3s manages this beautifully and Edin found that the D800 she was using coped very well even at ISO 3200.

A challenging autofocus task very well managed. We are thoroughly spoiled by modern autofocus technology
