After last weeks excursion to Black & White Wildlife photography, this week we’re back to normal with bird photography. This selection of images was made on the same walk around the base track of Mount Maunganui in August 2020.

While none of the images are especially remarkable it is a nice record of the common species and photo opportunities on a short walk.

The photos are shown in the sequence they were taken while walking clockwise around the Mount base track.

I have written in past about a number of similar walks and shared photos of a number of species, including Reef Heron, as well as some landscape photos.

Little Shag/ Kawau paka (Phalacrocorax melanoleucos)

The species in this series are the most commonly seen ones and can almost be relied on to make a photographable appearance.

There seem to be an increasing number and size of Pied Shag breeding areas which add to the risk and aroma of the walk!
