Shari Hawkins – Bird artist. Another version of the Flying Tui

Just to break the series of blog posts on our South Africa trip, I thought I would share this bit of news. For those following the South African story there will be another episode tomorrow.

Last June I wrote about New Zealand Bird Artist, Scott Meyers, who had contacted me for permission to use my flying Tui photo as a reference for a work he wanted to do. This has been a popular image with artists wanting a reference to work from and the latest to get back to me to share the completed work has been Shari Hawkins. I love graphite sketches and the addition of coloured pencils to convey the beauty of the plumage is fantastic. Shari is currently based in Australia but plans to head back to New Zealand in the next year. See Shari’s blog for some shots of her work in progress.
